How far in advance should I book gorilla permits?
Permits are limited to 96 per day, so we recommend 4–6 months ahead for June–September and December. We secure permits on your behalf as soon as your trip is confirmed.
When is the best time to visit Rwanda?
Gorillas can be tracked all year. The long dry season (June–September) and the short dry season (December–February) bring easier trails and the best game viewing in Akagera.
Do I need a visa to visit Rwanda?
Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival or apply online in advance. Citizens of many African, Commonwealth and other countries enter visa-free. We confirm the rules for your passport when we plan your trip.
How fit do I need to be for gorilla trekking?
A reasonable level of fitness helps. Treks take from one to several hours on steep, muddy slopes. Rangers match groups to families by fitness, and porters can carry your bag.
